Diamonds are the strongest and rarest resource in Minecraft, and since they are used for crafting numerous tools, players should use the best coordinates for Diamond levels to get as many as possible. Diamonds are also considered the standard currency in multiplayer servers, so using them to trade for Enchanted Books or other items can save you ample time. Therefore, it is crucial to know where you can mine Diamonds efficiently.
Since Minecraft's Caves & Cliffs update, the Diamond level has changed drastically. Additionally, with the recent 1.21 update, it is slightly tricky to figure out the precise location where players can find Diamonds. The lower Y-Levels also generate an abundance of Deepslate Diamond Ore. For maximum efficiency when mining for Diamonds, it is recommended that you focus on these levels.
Minecraft players can use seeds to create worlds with unique villages, which offer trade and shelter for anyone preparing for future adventures.
You can mine Diamonds from two types of blocks: Diamond Ore and Deepslate Diamond Ore. You will likely mine most Diamonds from the Deepslate Ore, which can be time-consuming as it has 1.5x the Hardness of normal Stone. So, the deeper you go, the more time it will take to mine Diamonds from Deepslate blocks.
If you have the Efficiency Enchantment in Minecraft on your pickaxe, you will be able to mine Diamonds faster. You can mine at slightly higher levels. However, it is recommended to mine for Diamonds between levels Y:-53 and Y:-59, as you will likely find many veins of Diamond Ore between these levels.
While Diamond concentration is particularly high and spawns the most at Y:-59, it is recommended to mine at Y:-53 due to the presence of lava, which usually occurs around Y:-54.
After digging down to Y:-53, the most optimal way to find Diamonds is by using the 'branch' technique, known as strip mining in Minecraft. This method is carried out by mining two blocks - one at eye level and the one beneath - in a straight line and then branching off into other tunnels.
Furthermore, there are multiple forms of strip mining, with the most effective method being in a multiplayer world. You and your friends should strip mine one or two blocks apart from one another, to maximize your time and resources to cover a wider area together, increasing your likelihood of encountering these precious ores.
Remember to carry a water bucket with you while mining. There's always a chance you could encounter pockets of lava while strip mining.
Alternatively, you can mine in a straight line for a hundred or so blocks. Or, instead of digging down another whole set of paths along the walls, you can choose to mine only the blocks at eye level. This diamond mining approach allows players to expose the blocks above and below within a small hole.
On the other hand, you can also use the 'trapdoor method', to mine for Diamonds in Minecraft, where you fit your character into a one-block hole using a trapdoor and continue strip mining. The clever trapdoor technique in Minecraft can save a good deal of time, but it requires you to carry trapdoors and can sometimes be challenging to pull off.
While these methods are great for early-game mining, when players need to get Diamonds for basic tools, late-game Minecraft players who already have many tools and resources can use the tunnel boring machine, as shown in the tutorial by NaMiature. This complex, cleverly crafted auto-mining machine uses an array of expensive materials and blocks to essentially catapult TNT at the blocks in front of it, creating a wide tunnel.
The tunnel boring machine will also move along the path as it destroys the blocks in front of it, revealing Diamond ores for you to go in and mine. This saves you lots of time and allows you to get rid of large chunks of blocks quickly and efficiently.
The moment you see Diamond ores, make sure to stop the tunnel bore, as otherwise, the next triggered explosion will destroy the block, preventing you from acquiring the ores.
The 1.21 Tricky Trials update hits Minecraft soon – and here's all of the new content players can expect to find once the update releases.
Apart from mining, you can also find Diamonds in other locations. They often appear in chests and can be found in unique locations in the Overworld, The End, and the Nether. This includes new structures from the 1.21 update, such as Trial Chambers in Minecraft. Chests which sometimes spawn Diamonds as rewards are usually found in the locations shown in the table below:

Once the desired number of Diamonds is acquired, you are free to use them to craft some of the strongest equipment and items Minecraft has to offer or trade them for rare items with other players.
As mentioned before, Diamonds are often used to upgrade tools such as the Pickaxe, Axe, and Shovel and trade with Villagers or other players. They can also be used to craft weapons such as a Diamond Sword for better durability and longevity.
Additionally, you will also require Diamonds to craft an Enchanting table which can be used to enhance tools and weapons further. Lastly, the only way for players to eventually obtain Netherite gear is to upgrade their Diamond gear, showcasing its importance. Here's everything players can craft using Diamonds in Minecraft:
